MOVIE ON DECEMBER 22

Stephen has revealed that 'Part Of The Weekend Never Dies', the Soulwax movie directed by Saam Farahmand, has to be ready by December 22. On that day, Soulwax and friends play in their hometown Ghent, so one can assume they want to show the movie on that night. As Stephen said in an interview on Studio Brussel, they have actually made 2 movies: one with testimonials from their friends (like Tiga, Erol Alkan, Klaxons) and one with live material from the Nite Versions shows and 2 Many DJ sets. The editing of all the footage took quite some time but according to Stephen they've made something quite unique. Especially with the 2 Many DJ's footage, when they played a certain remix (for instance their Gossip remix) they have used footage from up to 50 different gigs to combine into one video.

NEW MIXES ONLINE

Last Friday, David & Stephen did a one hour radio mix for 'The Remix' on XFM in London. You can listen to the mix here.
Another mix, made yesterday for Studio Brussel is available here. Both shows feature lots of tracks from 'Most Of The Remixes', the StuBru mix has samples from the shows that were broadcasted that day.

SOULWAX REMIX NEWSPAPER

The band is busy promoting the Most Of The Remixes album in their home country Belgium. Instores, taking over radio stations,... They have even 'remixed' Encore, the culture pages of Belgian newspaper De Morgen. The Soulwax edition will be available on Wednesday October 24.

UPDATE: STU BRU MASHUP DAY

It's Soulwax day at Belgian radio station Studio Brussel today. The band, who had some trouble getting up so early this morning, will sample parts of the shows that are broadcasted today and turn it into some sort of mashup. This one hour mix will be aired at 9PM. Some pics and interviews (in Dutch) can be found on this special page. Next Thursday, David & Stephen will spin their favorite records on Mish Mash at 7pm.

BILBO REVIEW

Last nite, Soulwax did an instore gig at the Bilbo record shop in Antwerp. The band, dressed in their lovely white tuxedos, did a 40 minute set. Some of the remixes had been left out (like Daft Punk Is Playing At My House), but it was nice to see them in a small venue like this

LIMITED EDITION CD

It seems like the Fnac website was right: there is a limited edition of 'Most Of The Remixes'.
But don't expect any extra tracks or features, the only difference with the regular edition is the packaging.
The limited edition has the title and tracklisting on a external cardboard sleeve, with a black CD case, while the regular edition has a normal booklet and a normal crystal case sleeve.

STUBRU MASHUP DAY

David and Stephen will be visiting Studio Brussels on Tuesday October 23. During the day they'll records bits and pieces from the radio show and make some kind of mashup at the end.

HIDDEN TRACK

You can call it a Soulwax tradition to put a hidden track on their records.
Looking at the tracklisting on several sites, like Amazon 'Most Of The Remixes' has a hidden track on CD 2: 'Stella Maris (Soulwax remix)' by Einsturzende Neubauten.
I guess they found it after all..

If you haven't had the chance yet to watch Soulwax perfom their remixes live, like me, this 7 minute movie on YouTube is a treat!
Shot in Hamburg on October 4, you see and hear bits of Soulwax playing Phantom pt II, Can't Get You Out Of My Head (rock version), Dominator, Gravity's Rainbow, Move My Body, 'soulwax' is playing at my house (including the Daft Punk samples), Standing In The Way Of Control and NY Excuse. Can't wait to see the guys, in their hand made white toxidos by Cafe Costume, doing it live on a stage nearby!

FREE BELGIUM GIG

On Wednesday the 17th of October, Soulwax are playing an instore gig at the Bilbo recordstore in Antwerp. The first 150 people who turn up and buy 'Most Of The Remixes' will get in. The gig starts at 7.30PM, but due to their popularity in their homecountry (and the lack of live show over the last year), we advice you to come very very early!

    The Soulwax remix of Get Innocuous will be included on the new LCD Soundsystem single Someone Great. It will get a UK release on October 22. US fans can get their hands on it only through the digital A Bunch Of Stuff EP, which was released on September 18.

    Gorillaz are releasing 'D-Sides' on november 5. This double CD contains B-sides and remixes.

    Besides remixes from Hot Chip and DFA, it also includes Soulwax' remix of 'Dare'.

    It was never official, but it seems that the movie premiere of Part Of The Weekend Never Dies will not be held on October 13. Zombie Nation, who listed the date of the premiere party on his site, has
    removed it after being noticed that it will not happen on that date.
    Hopefully we'll get an official date soon...

    Soulwax are on a roll: while we're still eagerly waiting for the release of their Justice and LCD Soundsystem remix, they have also remixed Ready For The Floor by Hot Chip.

    AFAIK this Hot Chip song will not be included on their new album, but the Soulwax remix will be an exclusive on the upcoming Soulwax remix compilation album which should get a release on Parlophone records later this year.

    Well, you had some time to listen to a preview of the mix, but the label kindly asked me to remove it 'till the compilation is out.

    I came across this record sleeve by Gui.Tar on the German Punkt label. Either their designer is paying tribute to Trevor Jackson's Any Minute Now / Nite Versions artwork, or he/she thought noone would notice.

    Soulwax have remixed 'Get Innocuous', a track from LCD Soundsystems' second album Sound Of Silver.

    It will be included on an EP called 'A Bunch Of Stuff' which will be released on September 18th through DFA/EMI. More info here

    TITAN VS SOULWAX

    Remember Titan? This threesome from Mexico made an album called 'Elevator' in 1999 and were supported by David and Stephen on their weekly tv-show @lter8.

    Titan remixed their song Too Many DJ's, but their remix was never included on any of the Soulwax singles. It can only be found on a very rare promotional CD-r.

    Off course, we've tracked down this Titan remix and you can listen to it on the jukebox!

    PRINCE - 2 MANY DJ'S EDIT

    This is an interesting one: appearantly Island Records has distributed promo copies of a 2 Many DJ's edit of the song Head by Prince to support his concerts in London.

    No idea if it's just CD-r's or actual white label 12" and if this will get an official release (probably not).

    BBC Radio 1 Annie Mac played it on her show and you can listen to it on our jukebox!

    It looks like the premiere of the Soulwax movie 'Part Of The Weekend Never Dies' will be held in Gent (where else?) on October 13.

    There's no official news on this, but we believe Zombie Nation is telling us the truth when he says he's deejaying at the movie release party in his tourdates section.
